Dear John is a romantic drama about a young soldier, John (Tatum) who falls in love with a conservative college student, Savannah (Seyfried) while he's home on leave. Over the next seven years the couple are continually separated by John's increasingly dangerous deployments, meeting only sporadically, they stay in touch by sending a constant stream of love letters.
